Whew, these last few days have been a whirlwind but we had such fun for our sweet baby girl's first Christmas. We had our annual "Sarah's family brunch" at our house on Christmas Eve, where lots of food, laughter, and gigantic cows were exchanged. Although I am lucky to be able to see my family frequently throughout the year, it's always fun to do a special Christmas gathering to celebrate love and family, and this brunch has become a wonderful tradition.
We then packed up most of Anna's possessions, squeezed in clothes for Mommy and Daddy in whatever space was left in the car, and traveled to Madison to spend Christmas Day with Steve's family. Steve's Granddad Don came all the way up from Florida to spend the week with us, and we're thankful that Don's health has improved enough for him to meet Anna and really enjoy his time up here with us. Steve's parents bought the new Kinect video game camera system and it's been quite the hit with everyone...although I'm really surprised that the crystal chandelier in the dining room below survived!!
Baby Girl also gave her momma quite the unexpected Christmas present. I put that sleepy girl down at 9:45 Christmas Eve night, and she didn't stir until 5:15 the next morning!! Given that her longest stretch previous to this was just under 5 hours, and even that was only once, I was surprised. I kept getting up to check on her but she was just snoozing away. We finally got up for the day at 8:00, so it was quite the night! It hasn't been repeated since then, of course, but hey- it's progress!
We also received another unexpected Christmas surprise- snow! As my other Georgian friends probably already know, Atlanta hasn't accumulated snow on Christmas Day since 1882, so needless to say, we were all pretty excited. The snow finally reached Madison after Banana had already gone to bed, but I love knowing that her first Christmas was a white one!
Banana got some wonderful Christmas presents, including some cute new clothes, toys, books, and her new Jumperoo, which she loves!
We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year - we know this next year is going to be a great one!
