This morning, we had Animal Kingdom on the agenda! I was excited for today because Anna loves animals, and Steve was excited because one of his favorite roller coasters is at this park and I promised to let him go ride it, haha. The park wasn't crowded at all when we got there this morning, and he got to ride Everest twice in a row!
Having a little breakfast snack while waiting for Daddy
I love my beautiful little girl!
This trail mix has M&Ms in it = great success
Surprise!! I had mentioned to Steve that some kid at Hollywood Studios had had some kind of light-up bubble gadget and that Anna had loved the bubbles, and he went and found it for her!
To say that Anna was delighted was an understatement!
Thank you Daddy :-)
Other kids at the park loved it too, every time Anna got off a good stream of bubbles, they'd run and play behind her in all of the bubbles.
We rode the Animal Safari, which was fun because they had animals that Anna recognized and some new ones too!
These giraffes almost ran into the truck, literally. I could have reached out my hand and touched them. The driver had to speed up to get past them!
The park has all these drums set out (and some you can purchase too, of course)...Anna LOVED these things and several happy minutes were spent drumming away.
One last safari ride before lunchtime!
For our nighttime activities on Day 3, we went back to Epcot.
We were so happy and pleasantly surprised when the sit-down restaurant, The Garden Grill, was able to squeeze us in for dinner. Steve and I were in need of a relaxing, private dinner (and a glass of wine!), and this was just the ticket.
We didn't even realize it, but this was a character dinner! We were so surprised - you normally need a reservation for these even on a non-crowded night. We must have gotten lucky with the cancellations. Regardless, Anna was thrilled.
The fun thing about a character dinner at this restaurant was that the sides of the booth were so high, Anna couldn't see them coming before they were standing at the table. She would be sitting there coloring and then all of a sudden, one of her "friends" was right there in front of her and ready to play!
We got to see Mickey in his overalls. The timing was a little unfortunate - although the other characters came around several times while we were there, Mickey only came to visit once, and it was right when the revolving restaurant was near the opening to the atrium. We were a little dismayed when families from the atrium came to get a picture with Mickey while it was our turn - they just walked right into the restaurant!! They were pushy and even just tried to pull Mickey away while Anna was talking to him. I finally had to ask a family to stop so we could get a picture. A little rude, if you ask me! But at least we got our picture.
Smiles for Daddy!
Chip and Dale came around at least a dozen times. We have no idea which one is which, lol.
Whiskers are fun, apparently
Well, the dinner ended up being an unexpected splurge but SO worth it. It was the perfect treat to recharge our batteries, enjoy each others' company, and keep Anna entertained for a couple of hours :-). A very nice break from the go-go-go pace of Disney and a wonderful way to end Day 3.
On the schedule for tomorrow is a Magic Kingdom marathon and one of my favorite days at Disney- I hope you all are loving the pictures as much as I am!
