Day 5 found us back at Animal Kingdom to tackle the other side of the park. We were thrilled because the hot weather finally broke and we had the weather that the reports had promised and for which we had packed - overcast and in the 60's!
All of the Disney parks had awesome Christmas trees set up.
There is a section in Animal Kingdom that is more of an educational facility in the back of the park, and you have to take a train to get there. Anna had been fascinated with trams and trains on this trip so naturally we had to take the train!
There was an exam room set up and we could see a little bird getting a check-up.
We met Rafiki. Creepy monkey, lol. Anna seemed to like him though and I guess that's all that matters.
There was a small petting zoo too, with goats and pigs and sheep.
We also had another drum session!
We also had to get some more Mickey bars. And today both ice cream-eaters got their own bars!
Not sure what this smile is but it made me laugh.
After the ice cream break, it was off to the Animal Kingdom Midway to try to win some toys.
Win #1 - a lizard!
Anna loves throwing things in the trash...time to say bye-bye to the rapidly-melting ice cream!
Anna became very interested in my camera and taking pictures on this trip. I have had to delete probably 300 pictures of shoes, random bottoms, and the back of tram seats so far, haha. And yes, we've already got a toy camera wrapped up for her under the tree, thanks to this trip :-). She took this photo though, isn't it a great picture??
Anna likes sharks. She has a shark finger puppet, a bath toy, and also several books with sharks in them, and I always do the Jaws music and then a friendly scream as I chomp at her belly button or hair or arm. She thinks it's hilarious, so when we saw the shark toys at the Midway, we had to try to get one!
Great success! And you might be tickled to know that the shark is her latest toy that has to go to bed with her, and every night we have to do the Jaws routine, haha.
Her pout is so funny. I don't remember what she was pouting at, but my guess is that we were laughing at something and she thought we were laughing at her. Crocodile tears, regardless.
Waiting for some opponents
I didn't think they were going to win this one, so I was happily surprised to see their mammoth light up and Anna was happily surprised to be handed a tiger toy!
We actually ended up with two tigers.
With a bag full of toys and bubbles, we bid a fond farewell to Animal Kingdom.
We ended Day 5 with an epic disaster night at Epcot. Anna's ideas for the night did not mesh with ours, and we were all tired and cranky so we ended up just having a relaxed Mexican dinner and then headed back to the hotel for the night.
I also realized while writing this post that I have a bunch of Disney pictures on my phone that I forgot about (including some from our Mexican Epcot dinner), and since the YMCA is beckoning me, I am going to just do one big phone picture post this weekend.
Up on the schedule for tomorrow is our last day at Disney - bittersweet because it was SUCH a fun day but we were sad to be done with our vacation and didn't want to say goodbye!! At least we can say we went out with a bang - I can't wait to show you guys the last set of pictures!
