A few weeks ago, one of the local parks hosted a Touch-A-Truck event, where kids can get up close with heavy construction equipment and emergency vehicles. There had actually been several of these scheduled over the past year and they kept getting rained out! So when I saw a sunny (albeit hot) forecast, I knew we had to seize the chance and get ourselves out to see these trucks.
the various trucks and emergency vehicles is a popular driving
past-time for Anna and you could tell she was a little awestruck at
being right next to these big vehicles. She was a little shy at first,
but was eventually coaxed into a quick picture with one of the
construction trucks. I also learned all of the proper names for these
trucks, all of which I have since forgotten.
the end though, she was playing with all of the fire truck knobs she
could reach, perching inside a police car, and running around the rest
of the festival inspecting all of the booths and their various wares.
Anna picked herself out a ladybug bracelet and a popsicle from the
farmer's market - she was a happy girl!
strategy of getting to the park before the event was scheduled to start
definitely paid off - it was so hot and crowded by the time we left,
and we were grateful that we had found a close parking spot. I am
definitely going to keep an eye on the calendar for another one of these
events - Anna had a blast and I had a good morning with my sweet girl!
