We live in a really large subdivision that hosts several big parties every year, one of which being a Fourth of July celebration. It was our first year going, now that the girls are old enough to enjoy it, and we had such a good time! We got lucky with a relatively cool day, and it was held in our neighborhood park which has plenty of shade. And, needless to say, the girls had a blast being with their BFFs from next door.
I think this might have been their very first snow cone.
Anna got her face painted (another first, unless I am not remembering something!). She was so funny to watch - she was all blissed out with this little smile on her face like she was relaxing at a spa.
She was so proud of her cat face!
Steve wandered off to get some treats. He claims they were for the kids.
Cotton candy - another first. The girls didn't really know what to think about this.
Anna coaxed her friends into going over and getting a balloon hat. There were several older girls in the hula hooping contest and the dance area wearing balloon hats and she wanted one just like theirs! And speaking of the dance area, there was a uniformed police officer doing the cha-cha slide, which was pretty funny! The police and the firefighters had a booth set up with little whistles and trinkets for the kids.
On the train ride with Emily and Rebecca!
Anna begged for one more pony ride before heading home.
Once we got home and got the girls cooled off and napped, it was time for a good old-fashioned American cookout.
The cat face didn't survive the day, unfortunately. Her love of face painting has been fully ignited though, as you will see in future posts!
We finished off the weekend with an impromptu fireworks display from our neighbors. We gave in and let Anna stay up to watch - she was so cute to see perched in her little camping chair enjoying the fireworks.
We hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend too - happy Fourth of July!
